first draping…

January 17, 2012

(sorry the quality of this cell phone pic is kind of insanely terrible…but, it happens) monday is draping class! and we actually didn’t have class today but last week was my first class and it was so much fun! in class we got a partner and a piece of fabric (we had a really cool shear fabric!) then had to drape something within a certain amount of time. its kind of awkward working in groups to me, but i really liked the girl i partnered with because 1. her name is suzy….or…actually, it may have been lucy….but either way, both names are adorable! and when i see her next week i can get it all straight! (heheee that’s embarrassing.) but anyway 2. she’s asian and has a super cool style 3. we both worked really well off of each others ideas which made the project come out to be one of the best in the class!

i wish i would have taken a picture of the back of the dress because when we showed our dress to the rest of the class we turned it around and you could hear the excitement in the room from the detail we worked in the back! we were happy with our fabric because we had one of the bigger pieces so when we got to the back we had tons of extra fabric so we flipped it over and had little twist details at the bottom of the low cut back. then that also allowed us to add a dramatic hem to the dress with one short side and one long side. so that was fun…i’m excited for next week!

p.s. maybe next week i’ll bring my actual camera to class so the detail in our work can be seen better 🙂
