ingenuity fest 2011

September 19, 2011

the ingenuity fest is by far one of the coolest art festivals that Cleveland has and it came back around this past weekend! its located underneath the detroit/superior bridge going downtown where there are railroad tracks but the trains stopped going through there in the 1900’s. since it so dark in there, there are all these awesome light fixtures and all sorts of stuff. there are DJ’s and locals hot bands playing the whole weekend through the whole bridge and pretty much all of the art is self involved…’tis awesome as you will soon see!

this is the  view of the bridge from the street and where you see the blue light coming out from it is where the festival is.
 goin’ in mmmmmmmmhm.
“this is a space for free high fives” yep. that’s right, i got a free high five–be jeal.

this is an interesting video thing that had different people like ninjas and kids with fro’s.

 some weirdo chairs yo.

this was sweet, you stood in front of this camera and on the screen the blobs shaped into your movements!
 DJ dj-in’ it…

this violinist was SICK! there was one point he was plucking it and playing it like a guitar
there were these cool benches around and i decided to lay on it. on another bench there was this dude sitting on these chairs that were on top of the bench and i was all like, “whaaaat?” so as we passed by i said something to him (i don’t remember what, but it was SOMETHING) and he was like “take a sparkler”! so we all got sparklers. i still don’t know who he was and where he got those chairs from though…..i don’t know!
i remember this liquorish stand being here last year, they have tons of flavors and rumor has it its prettttttty tastyyyyyyy…

these hearts were awesome and through the whole weekend one by one each one slowly lit up

 drummers drummin’ it

 the artist and his art

 i would trade a kidney for this shirt…………or i guess i could also just pay 24 dollars…

this was a house set up and at the begining of the festival that day this whole space was completely white. by this time it was about 12 or 12:30 at night and they said when the festival is over that night they’re re-painting it all white again for tommorrow, there were some sweet drawings THAT’S for sure.

there was this artist there who was doing customized screen printing and when he would lay the blocks on the paper he put it under the horse rocker then who ever the customer was, they put on a cowboy hat and rocked over it and everybody was shouting and screaming until the print was ready. i love Clevelanders!
through here there was a new band setting up about to play. they looked pretty groovy!

another drummer drummin’…which ever part of the drum he hit, it lit up.

outside there were a bunch of trucks and stands with drinks and festive food. i tried this really good glassed soda…i just remember being very satisfied with it, and that was all.
oh Cleveland, how i love thee.
p.s. sorry most of the pics are blurry…actually, sorry ALL the pictures are blurry! i just can’t stand flash so i will do anything to not use it. i should probably work on that.

I love Cleveland too. Born and raised there….but life took me elsewhere. I love your photos. Keep it up. Your images rival anything I may have seen in London, for example. Cleveland is definitely an art town.
